Immediate Relief, Direct Impact

The Humanitarian Fund for Displaced Children (HFDC) is a volunteer-run humanitarian initiative providing essential aid to displaced children throughout the Gaza Strip.

We provide a safe, legal, transparent, and apolitical framework that connects ordinary people around the world with children living without a safety net, transforming compassion and generosity into direct, tangible, and immediate relief.

Our community-based mutual aid model is agile, efficient, and radically transparent, allowing us to respond to urgent needs in real time.

Direct Humanitarian Relief

We currently support 107 displaced children throughout Gaza, including 31 infants and children two years old or under. We purchase and coordinate the delivery of essential supplies based on each family’s needs, prioritizing children facing the greatest vulnerabilities.

The remaining 1.75% covers processing and administrative fees associated with our fiscal sponsorship through the Greater Lewes Foundation (GLF), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. HFDC retains no funds for salaries or organizational overhead. Eligible donations made through GLF are tax-deductible.

Speed

Our mutual-aid model allows us to respond quickly to changing circumstances and urgent needs. When procurement and delivery routes are operational, requested supplies typically reach families within two to six days of order placement, though humanitarian access restrictions can cause delays.

Transparency

Donors can follow how their contributions are spent and see the assistance they make possible.

Proof of Purchase and Delivery: Purchase records and photographs shared with families’ consent are published on Chuffed, our fundraising platform.

Legal and Accountable

HFDC is fiscally sponsored by the Greater Lewes Foundation (GLF), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing financial oversight and a tax-deductible giving framework.

We procure and coordinate the delivery of essential supplies through Gaza Giving Cart, a project of Rebuilding Alliance, a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) humanitarian nonprofit supporting Palestinian communities since 2003.

All activities are conducted through established humanitarian channels in accordance with applicable U.S. laws and regulations.

Medical Advocacy

Beyond material assistance, we work with humanitarian and advocacy partners, including Rebuilding Alliance and the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL), to advocate for urgent medical evacuations of critically ill and injured children.

Commitment to Dignity

Our work is grounded in respect for the dignity, privacy, and agency of every family we serve.

Families are selected through a compassionate, needs-based assessment that prioritizes the most vulnerable children. All families also undergo screening in accordance with U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.

With informed consent, families share documentation of their circumstances and authorize the publication of photographs showing the goods they receive. This allows donors to see the impact of their contributions while respecting each family’s privacy.

Our process

1. Identifying Families in Need

Families facing urgent hardship are identified through trusted partners or by contacting the Fund directly.

2. Verification

Each family is carefully verified by both an external advocate and a Fund Board member to confirm identity, location, and details of need.

3. Family Enrollment

Once verified, families are added to the Fund and remain in regular contact with Board members and volunteers as their circumstances change.

4. Allocation of Donations

Donations are distributed based on donor specifications when provided. Undesignated funds are allocated through a rapid review process that prioritizes urgency, vulnerability, and fairness.

5. Transfer of Aid

Essential goods are purchased and transferred directly to our partner-families through The Gaza Giving Cart, a 501(c)(3) based in the U.S.A.

6. Transparency

All distributions are published with photo documentation of deliveries, dated financial records, photos of receipts, and additional details available upon request.

Urgent Medical Evacuation Support

We work with Rebuilding Alliance’s Advocacy Team, the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL), and other NGOs to support families awaiting critical medical evacuation.

Donation Allocations

You can choose to support a specific family or let us direct your gift where it’s needed most. Designated gifts support a specific child or family. Include the child’s name in the “Notes” section when you donate via Chuffed.

Undesignated gifts are pooled and distributed to families in proportion to critical need. We prioritize infants without formula, children with medical emergencies, and families facing extreme exposure, recent displacement, or accute injuries. We factor in recent donations or lack thereof to ensure equitable distribution.

Regardless which way you donate, every family selects their own essentials from The Gaza Giving Cart. This ensures they receive exactly what they need most, maintaining agency in a time of crisis.

Sponsor a Family

You can give a child in Gaza the gift of nutritional consistency. Through our sister-family sponsorship program, recurring gifts provide predictable deliveries of infant formula, diapers, and grocery packages.

This type of sustained support is more powerful than a one-time gift—it provides caloric stability and peace of mind, shielding families from the constant anxiety of not knowing where their child’s next meal will come from. It is one of the most profound ways to stand in solidarity with children navigating daily survival.
