These children are on their own with their mom, Dina, who is struggling to pay rent ($300/mo) and keep the children fed and medicated. She lost a baby girl, Malak, early this year, after an emergency C-section, and extended time in intensive care. Dina has lost two other children to a genetic disease (Thalassemia) that Abdullah, her son, also suffers from. He develops lung infections easily, has chronic low blood levels, and iron-deficiency anemia. He needs food rich in iron, which his mother cannot provide for him. He also frequently needs antibiotics which there is little to no money for.
