These children have only one set of warm clothes each. They are most in need of additional formula and food. Maryam suffers from lung infections due to the cold wet conditions, and frequently needs medication that their mother can’t afford. Habiba recently contracted lice from playing with other children in the camp and Wafaa can’t buy the medicine to rid her of it. All of their bedding was soaked in sewage water in the latest winter storms and there are no replacements. Wafaa says the children cry at the smell of food, and ask her for chicken and fruit. But that Muhammad, the eldest, has “become like an adult” and no longer asks for what they can’t afford.
