These children have only one set of warm clothes each. They are most in need of additional food. Maryam suffers from lung infections and frequently needs medication that their mother can’t afford. Habiba has contracted lice from playing with other children in the camp and Wafaa can’t buy the medicine to rid her of it. Their bedding has been soaked with sewage water several times. Wafaa says the children cry at the smell of food, and ask her for chicken and fruit. But that Muhammad, the eldest, has “become like an adult” and no longer asks for what they can’t afford.
